6 Wedding Trend Predictions for 2022
Every wedding should be as unique and memorable as the couple being celebrated; however, it can be really fun to know what trends are up and coming for your wedding year. Trend is defined as ‘a general direction in which something is developing or changing’ therefore, trends are flexible. You don’t have to follow them exactly to be “on trend” so approach all of these with an open mind and make it your own! *Any recommendations on locations to purchase items listed below are not paid advertising, just genuinely where we think you will have success.
Vibrant Colors
Pastels have been very popular for the last couple of years so this shift has been expected to happen. Bright, rich, intense colors are predicted to be on trend for 2022 and we couldn’t be more excited! Along with vibrant colors, technicolor is also expected to become increasingly popular this year. Whether you love pastels or vibrant hues, the correct color combinations will always be beautiful so don’t let this one throw you too much if you don’t go along with this trend!
Flower Arches and Hanging Florals
Balloon arches have always been a popular choice from birthdays to weddings, and it looks like they are going be phasing out slightly in 2022. Flower arches and hanging floral accents are rapidly taking the place of balloons and we are all for it! Flowers are elegant, bright, classy, and timeless. Initially we felt that this might be a costly accent feature given the value of flowers, but silk flowers might be the way to go. Silk flowers are know for their durability, versatility, vibrancy, and reusability. You can easily order silk flowers online, but if you want to support a local business for the Lafayette, IN area you really cannot go wrong with JoAnn’s or Hobby Lobby for bulk silks at a good price point.
Wallpaper
Yes, you heard that right, wallpaper is potentially going to be on trend in 2022 as an accent feature. We were as surprised as you when we initially heard about this, but honestly wallpaper is amazing for a variety of reasons including textures, patterns, colors, and themes that would be very difficult to achieve otherwise. Whether you are using it with your center pieces, a backdrop for the ceremony or sweet heart table, in your favors, or behind the band, there is no denying that the right paper can bring a very polished, bright, and eclectic feel. Be careful though, use this as an accent only, too much can be overwhelming. There are many places to purchase wallpaper in Indianapolis and Lafayette, IN and our personal favorite is Sherwin Williams, they have tons of designs to choose from that are of excellent quality. This is one trend that you can have a lot of fun with and really make your own, we cannot wait to see what our couples come up with.
Guest Apparel
With all that has happened these last couple of years everyone is eager to celebrate with those they love. A result of this eagerness to get back to enjoying life includes an enthusiasm to dress to the nines. We are all going to really enjoy seeing everyone bring their A-Game to all of these events, and you are sure to have some amazing photos of everyone at your wedding! Don’t worry, the bride and groom will still be the most stylish ones in the room!
Silver Accents
Silver and rose gold have been slowly taking the place of solid gold accents over the last year or so and now we are seeing a complete eclipse. Silver has the ability to add charm to any space or style of decoration, it also makes a great accent for the colors encasing it due to reflective properties so you don’t have to worry about it clashing with anything. Rose gold is a soft, elegant accent that can compliment a large variety of color schemes, and is a wonderful addition as either an accent piece or the main focal point. Regardless of what metal you use to accent, be it copper, gold, silver, rose, platinum, or rusted; metals add amazing dimension to any decoration and can elevate your wedding with minimal effort on your part.
Virtual Save the Dates
Save the Dates can be amazing, particularly if you are planning a destination wedding, and virtual is becoming the norm for a few good reasons! Virtual is a better environmental option as it doesn’t use any ink or paper. It is more financially sound as you can generate your own custom save the date on your phone or computer via a variety of sites for pennies or even free, save it, and send it out. Virtual is also very handy for you and your guests. It allows you to send them with your wedding website link alongside information about the wedding and the option for early RSVPs, and it gives your guests plenty of time to make travel plans. All in all we are pretty excited to see this shift. We have discussed Virtual Save the Dates on another blog post ~Wedding Planning and a Budget~ if you would like to check that out.
Regardless of the trends mentioned here or elsewhere, this is your wedding and you should choose whatever fits you and your fiancé. Be that on trend, traditional, or completely unique to you both, whatever you do, your wedding is sure to be as unique and memorable as your love.
